What it is
SAML 2.0 is the foundational identity protocol underpinning both Coconut SSO for staff and the authenticated context handoff used in digital banking integrations like Alkami and Candescent.
How it works
For staff SSO: Coconut redirects to the FI’s identity provider, receives a SAML assertion, and maps it to an existing staff profile. For digital banking: SAML is the transport layer that securely passes member context (name, email, phone) so the booking form arrives pre-filled.
Best fit for
Any FI that wants to centralize authentication through an existing identity provider (Okta, Entra ID, Ping, etc.) rather than managing separate Coconut credentials.
