Katherine Regnier

CEO & Founder

Katherine Regnier is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Coconut Software. In 2011, she quit her job at 3-months pregnant to solely focus on Coconut. After 5 years of bootstrapping the company to over a million in sales everything changed in late 2016. Katherine attended a month long mentorship program in Silicon Valley led by Neal Dempsey. Once completed she decided to seek venture capital. Fast-forward to 2017, Katherine has successfully raised  $4.9M and has grown her team to over a staff of 50.

In addition to running her business, she is passionate about giving back to Canada and wants to help pave the way for future entrepreneurs.  Katherine is a founding board member of Co.Labs, Saskatchewan’s first technology incubator, regularly speaks at events, and is an advocate for women in tech. She believes in continuous learning and surrounding yourself with bright mentors and who have been there and done that.

What do you love about working at Coconut?

Each person at Coconut works FOR our customers, each other, and our investors. I find it extremely rewarding to see our talent and our customers succeed because of what we push to do everyday.

Why should potential candidates consider joining the Coconut team?

I believe in what Steve Jobs said, “We don’t hire smart people to tell them what to do, we hire smart people to tell us what to do.” If you want to have a voice, make a difference, and work with the top leading brands in the world – this is a fabulous place to make an impact.

How do you enjoy spending your time when you're not at work?

I am constantly reading business books and listening to business podcasts – my favourite is the Saastr podcast. I am always looking for ways to improve myself and our company. The way to my heart is a perfect cup of coffee!

Coconut Software - Romeo Lula - Headshot - Cropped

Romeo Iula

CTO

Romeo leads Coconut Software as the Chief Technology Officer. He completed a Computer Science degree at the University of Saskatchewan and moved on to a senior website developer role at zu agency before joining Coconut Software as Katherine’s second employee and has since played a significant role driving the success of the organization.

What do you love about working at Coconut?

Every day is a new learning experience. The context around the problems we are solving has evolved as the company has grown and it’s a dynamic learning environment to be part of!

Why should potential candidates consider joining the Coconut team?

We put great focus on developing the people we bring on board. How we treat our people and how we carry ourselves as an organization matters just as much to us as making it to our next growth goal. Winning isn’t the only thing that matters, how you win matters!

How do you enjoy spending your time when you're not at work?

I spend a lot of time following trends and dabbling in new technologies. But I also try to make time for disconnecting too and love to spend my evenings exploring the city and hanging out on rooftop pubs with friends. If you can’t keep your mind clear and on the big picture, you will derail yourself!

Koda_Coconuts_DirectorofGreeting_DOG

Koda

Director of Greeting - The D.O.G

Koda is Coconut’s Director of Greeting. He joined our team in 2019, and while he had very little previous experience, it was clear from day one that he was the right fit for the job. Koda has been breaking down barriers with his tremendous aptitude for sitting and rolling over for treats, as well as his unique ability to sniff out good ideas (and lunch kits). He’s also in charge of napping, walks, and checking in on people with regular laps around the office.

What do you love about working at Coconut?

While the treats, belly rubs, and attention are top notch, it’s the people that really get me. There’s just so many of them! I could go from desk, to desk, to desk, sniffing, interrupting, getting scratched behind the ears, and biting shoes for hours.

Why should potential candidates consider joining the Coconut team?

I was just a young pup when I joined the Coconut team – but they believed in me. With a little guidance from my teammates, I’ve been making leaps and bounds in my job performance and skills – and I’m not the only one that they’ve helped walk the path to success. They’ve really created a pawsitive environment by hiring the right people, and helping them grow into the shoes they’ll be filling (or chewing). Whether you’re rolling through work or having a ruff day, your team has your back.

How do you enjoy spending your time when you're not at work?

The dog park. I’m a huge fan of running, jumping, chasing, and sniffing. I like to burn off some energy when I can – but that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to relax. In my down time, I enjoy eating and watching Netflix.

Coconut Software - Mark Ramsey - Headshot

Mark Ramsay

CRO

Mark leads Coconut Software as the Chief Revenue Officer. Prior to this role, Mark has a strong track record of driving results and profitability in leadership roles at CNW (Cision), Solarsoft (Epicor), Eloqua (Oracle) and Datamirror (IBM). What do you love about working at Coconut?

Three things: 1: The culture is great! Everybody comes to work ready to learn and willing to help each other out. 2: We’re united around a strong mission: Helping businesses digitally transform their customer journey and solve a real-world problem that I myself have experienced: appointment booking. And 3: The management team doesn’t lead with a top-down style, but is extremely open and accessible to taking ideas from the rest of the team.

Why should potential candidates consider joining the Coconut team?

If you’re looking to work in a fun environment, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow through mentorship and coaching, you should join Coconut! We are genuinely committed to helping develop the careers of our people.

How do you enjoy spending your time when you're not at work?

Either with my family or on my mountain or road bike. I also enjoy playing goalie on a hockey team.

What do you love about working at Coconut?

Coconut excels at continuous improvement. Individuals, teams, and the product are all in a constant state of, thoughtful, improvement. That thoughtfulness is a key component of our company culture too. We don’t just arbitrarily push in all directions all the time, we identify the biggest problem in front of us and work on it until it’s no longer a problem.

Why should potential candidates consider joining the Coconut team?

I’m going to quote Romeo’s bio because he lives it and it’s part of what convinced me to join the Coconut team:
“Winning isn’t the only thing that matters, how you win matters!”
I like to win. Winning is fun. Coconut’s culture pushes us to win (and have fun), but how we do all of that really matters to us.

How do you enjoy spending your time when you're not at work?

I’m an avid gamer. I’ve been a lifelong video gamer and have a particular fondness for all things Nintendo and Blizzard. I also love board games of all types, but I lean towards the deep strategic complexity in heavy Eurogames.

What do you love about working at Coconut?

Coming from a rigid finance background, I find the casual work environment at Coconut very refreshing. The team and workplace culture are great, and the opportunity to help set the direction for a growing company is very exciting.

Why should potential candidates consider joining the Coconut team?

Coconut is unique in how we treat our people. There aren’t many other companies that offer flexible working times, office snacks/catered lunches, and the opportunity to collaborate with your team over drinks on a Friday afternoon. Everyone who works at Coconut also becomes an owner in the company through stock options – and so it’s a great place to make a meaningful impact as part of a passionate team.

How do you enjoy spending your time when you're not at work?

I recently became a new dad and love spending free time with my family. I’ve also been involved in soccer and Ukrainian dancing for many years. Some of my other interests include investing, home renovation projects, and travelling. I especially enjoy theme parks and live entertainment, and so my favourite places to visit are New York City and Orlando, Florida.
